About Sheena

I’ve always been a little bit of a creative nomad—and a person with far too many interests to fit neatly into one box.

I was born in Trinidad and Tobago and come from a multicultural background. Over the years, I’ve lived in Miami, New York City, the Pacific Northwest, Europe and the Caribbean - with each place shaping the way I’ve experienced culture, creativity, and the world.

Growing up, I couldn't decide whether I wanted to become an Egyptologist or a musician. I was fascinated by ancient Egypt, history, philosophy, and the mysteries of civilizations—and at the same time I was an aspiring heavy metal singer.

The creative impulse never really went away. I’m a writer, artist, musician, thinker and craftsperson, and I’m endlessly drawn to different forms of creative expression. My musical tastes wander just as freely: I love World/Folk music, Classical, Renaissance and Medieval music, Celtic traditions, Electronic and Rock alongside plenty of things that don't fit neatly into any particular category.

I’m equally at home getting lost in an old historical question, reading philosophy, discovering unfamiliar music, making something with my hands, or wandering through nature. Nature is not optional for me. I need it to feel grounded and connected to the world around me - Oh, and cats! The more, the merrier.

That curiosity has also shaped my professional life. I earned a Master’s degree in Arts Presenting and Live Entertainment Management from the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, and my work has taken me through the worlds of performing arts, culture, tourism, nonprofits, and creative enterprise.

I've never been particularly interested in choosing just one lane. I’m more interested in connections—between ideas, people, cultures, creative disciplines, and possibilities.

That way of seeing the world eventually found its professional expression in 1717, where I help people and organizations figure out what they're trying to become, see possibilities they may not have considered, and turn those possibilities into something real.

I’m still a creative person first.

I just happen to love figuring things out, too.
